Part of my job title at KGO Radio is Producer. Producing radio can be a SWEET experience—Literally! Today, Joel Ridell and myself co-produced Gene Burns’s Holiday Cookie Exchange radio show. BTW, Joel is the executive producer of Dining Around With Gene Burns, a popular show KGO Radio broadcasts 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. For 3 hours we produced the finals of this annual event where prior to today, listeners emailed or mailed to the station their holiday cookie recipes. November 19 was the cutoff date. We received several hundred recipes which were then whittled down to 25 by programming assistant, Pamela H. These 25 contestants… …were notified of their status and invited to attend today’s live broadcast where 5 highly credentialed judges tasted then chose the top 3 winning recipes among the invited 25 in attendance, which was what this producing gig was all about. You can get more information about Gene Burns’s 15th Annual Cookie Exchange and the winners at: http://diningaround.com/page/gene-burnss-15th-annual.
In the meantime, get a load of these incredible cookies that were made by the 25 contestants. Lucky me, as I was able to get a sample of each one, which all are safe and sound in my freezer. I will defrosted them a day or two before Christmas Eve then share ‘em with family and friends.
